Checkweigher Upgraded for Compost Supplier
Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch recently fitted new load cells and weighing electronics to an existing checkweigher belonging to GroMor Enterprises based at Singleton in the Hunter Valley.
The in-motion checkweigher is used to checkweigh 17kg bags of compost on a moving conveyor belt after they have been heat sealed, with the bags passing over the checkweigher prior to being stacked onto pallets for transport.
Due to the humid environment the checkweigher is located in, HBM Z6 load cells were used due to their full stainless steel construction and IP68 hermetic sealing. The in-built sense wire connections in the Z6 load cells also suited this application as the weighing electronics were mounted approximately 30 metres away from the load cells.
The checkweigher was also fitted with new weighing electronics, an Accuweigh X320 digital weight indicator, which carries the highest industry IP rating of IP69K and is ideal for use in wet and corrosive environments.
