Conveyor Scales Installed For Limestone Mining
Eight conveyor scales supplied by Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch are in operation at Charbon, West of Newcastle in New South Wales. The conveyor scales were required to increase traceability of raw products flowing over the conveyor belts before being blended.
Accuweigh has extensive experience with the supply and maintenance of conveyor scales and regularly services an extensive number of units in the Newcastle area. The non-trade conveyor scales installed at this mine use single weigh idlers that are well known for their simplicity and durability.
Stainless steel load cells of a double ended beam design in these conveyor scales eliminate the need for levers and transfer arms which ensures a high degree of reliability with minimal servicing requirements. For increased weighing accuracy, the conveyor scales are fitted with a tachometer to monitor the conveyor belt speed to eliminate weighing errors caused by belt speed variances through excessive moisture, cold temperatures or varying belt loadings.
The weight readings are generated by a GT500E 24-bit weigh integrator using a 6 wire load cell circuit to eliminate weight signal loss over long cable runs.
