Fire-Rated PVC/Acrylic Sheet

Boltaron 1165/1165C sheet is extruded from select resin, trim and regrind of high performance Boltaron PVC/Acrylic sheet, yielding higher properties and greater economy than comparable fire-rated sheet products, according to Boltaron Director, Adam Mellen.

Recommended for general thermoforming and fabrication, the UL94-V0 fire-rated sheet offers Izod impact resistance of 10 ft. lbs/in. (530 J/m) as well as exceptional resistance to chemicals and abrasion.

It is offered in black and dark gray colors in six surface textures, in lengths to 120 in. (3048 mm), widths to 60 in. (1524 mm), thicknesses from .040 to .250 in. (1.02 to 6.35 mm) and in custom blank sizes.

According to the company, the sheet is readily thermoformed, yielding uniform wall thickness in deep recesses and sharp outside corners. It can also be sawn, drilled, tapped, routed and otherwise machined using conventional tools, and can be brake formed (thinner gauges), heat welded, adhesive bonded and mechanically fastened, allowing rapid fabrication of a broad range of high-integrity parts and assemblies.

Typical applications include equipment housings, medical device enclosures, vending machine components, fixtures, and parts requiring painting.

The company produces 50 grades of specialized sheet that offer fire ratings and physical properties required for aircraft interior applications, mass transit vehicle interiors and commercial/industrial applications ranging from equipment enclosures and holsters to protective interior wall covering and weatherable building products.

In addition to extrusion lines, the company houses a calendering operation that produces monolithic film and sheet products at high rates, and a press laminating operation in which multiple sheets of calendered or extruded sheet are fused off line to form solid monolithic or composite sheet up to 4.0 in. (102 mm) thick in unlimited colors, textures and patterns.
