Luhr Supples Filters for Recent Boral Upgrade
Boral as part of their most recent upgrade has installed a new Gypsum Kettle in their Plaster Board plant in Melbourne.
Luhr was awarded the contract for the supply of the necessary dust control equipment for the project. This consisted of a small vent filter on the kettle feed bin and a much larger multicyclone and filter on the kettle itself. The units add to a total of three other similar installations supplied to this plant over the years.
The filter selected comes from the Luhr SDF reverse pulse “on-line” cleaned filter range using the unique design of vertically mounted oval filter bags, offering extremely good space utilisation and permitting the unit to come to site fully assembled with filter bags, bag cleaning system and electrical controls shop fitted and tested prior to despatch. Not only does this ensure the filter is fully operation on arrival at site, but it substantially reduces the on site erection time and removes the need for specialised installation crews.
Due the relatively high temperature and the moisture present in the gas stream, the filter is fitted with Ryton filter bags which are designed to handle the moist sticky dust. The dust load exiting the kettle is fairly high and as a means of reducing the load on the filter bags a multicyclone is installed prior to the filter. This consists of four Luhr High Efficiency Reverse Flow Cyclones complete with integral discharge hopper.
