- A Conveyor Transfer Point is the location on a conveyor where the material is loaded or unloaded.
Correctly designed transfer points should load the material on to the centre of the belt at a uniform rate in the direction of belt travel and ideally, at the same speed the belt is moving. Additionally, it is important that the material is loaded with minimum impact on the belt and that the belt is properly supported. It is also important that the transfer point design minimises belt wear, product spillage and dust.
Conveyor component specialist Kinder & Co., understand the problems that can be associated with conveyor transfer points and has engineered a complete range of products, specifically designed to help overcome some of the most common problems. As many of the problems associated with belt conveyor transfer points can be attributed to the original design, these products can not only be used on new conveyor installations, but in most cases, can also be retrofitted to problematic existing systems.
Impact Belt Conveyor Transfer Systems
K-Impact Belt Support Systems can dramatically improve material containment at conveyor transfer points. They are purpose built to take high impact loading. The unit has no moving parts to fail and therefore is free of continual maintenance. The 12mm thick Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene wear surface allows the belt to slide freely over the cradle surface. The cradle is designed to interchange with existing idlers to maintain the same belt height.
Replacement Belt Support System for Trough Idlers
Effective skirting performance can only be achieved by proper belt support. Material spillage due to belt sag can easily be controlled by fitting this system, which utilizes the existing idler frames. Belt edge sag, which is a likely cause of spillage, is quickly eliminated when the wing rollers are replaced with the K-Sure Belt Support Brackets and K-Sure Belt Support Slider Rails. The system requires no pre-engineering and fitting the rails is elementary.
Quick release Skirt Clamp Systems
To ensure a proper seal, conveyor skirting rubber must be adjusted regularly to prevent dust leakage. K-Quick Clamp Skirt System allows plant operators to fit, release and adjust skirting rubber easily and without tools. Suited to awkward and confined spaces, the K-Quick Clamp Skirting System is zinc plated and consists of 2 cam assemblies to be spaced at nominal 500 mm centres. The one metre length of aluminium V Clamp rail is included. It is available also in T304 Stainless Steel.
Conveyor Belt Sealing - Rubber
To ensure a proper seal, conveyor skirting rubber must be adjusted constantly to prevent dust leakage. K-Skirting Seal overcomes the requirements of maintenance and replacement by its unique design features. The K-Skirting Seal is a double layer skirting rubber compounded from polyurethane and rubber. The interior wear resistant layer of polyurethane enhances the wear life. The outer anti-dust integral moulding can adapt to belt vibration and maintain correct pressure to effectively seal the belt.
Conveyor Belt Sealing - Polyurethane
K-Kryptane Polyurethane Skirting is highly wear resistant compared to conventional skirting rubber and field testing indicates up to 8 times greater life can be achieved. Because the material has less co-efficient of friction than rubber, both belt wear and power is reduced. Standard widths are available up to 300mm wide x 15 Meters, with straight cut or bevelled edge to suit the trough belt profile. The Snap-Loc Dust Seal configuration is an effective dust containment solution utilizing Uni-Strut channel to mount the polyurethane seal.
