Suction Cup for Efficient Bag Handling
The PIAB suction cup BL40-5 is a silicone cup with re-enforced bellows and a long, thin lip designed for pick and place applications, mainly in the food industry and specifically optimised to handle difficult bags. Difficult bags, meaning bags that are filled with liquids, heavy bags with material that is not in one piece e.g. heavy pet food bags, bags with frozen food, bags of rice or pasta etc.
The silicone material of the suction cup complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.2660; meaning that you have the flexibility to use the same cup for lifting bags as for lifting the food directly. The silicone material also means the cup can be used in temperatures from -20 to 200°C. The fitting is designed to enable high initial flow providing a quick seal on the product.
When lifting bags containing loose product the bag can sag and buckle under the products own weight. The BL40-5 has a very thin lip, ensuring flexibility and the best sealing properties between the lip and the bag/food. As you will have a more secured grip it will be possible to increase the packing speed and have fewer planned and unplanned stoppages. The bellow will compensate for different levels, if the products to be picked are not homogeneous.
