The end of the year is upon us once again, a time of course when the lucky ones start to think about holidays, but some amongst us have to turn there attentions to annual maintenance shutdowns!

It has most certainly been an eventful year for me and I must admit that the support we have been receiving for the PowderHandling web site since we first went on line at the end of August has been overwhelming. Each month, we get more companies taking advantage of our free listings and more companies seeing the benefits that are offered by joining the ranks of our Bronze, Silver or Gold Members. Along with our paying advertisers and other sponsors, our paying members make the continuing growth of this industry resource possible.

The PowderHandling.com.au web site is optimised for the best results from all search engines, but we see by far the greatest numbers of referrals from Google. Traffic to the site continues to grow on a daily basis and last month (November ’06), there were 68,322 page views! Many of the visitors to PowderHandling.com.au are finding there way to our web site by searching for a specific supplier on Google. Try a search on Google for one of our listed suppliers now and see where we rank. We are also seeing growing numbers of equipment searches on Google finding their way to PowderHandling.com.au.

We have also had an overwhelming response to our first Powder Handling Seminar to be held at the end of February in Sydney. Registration is now open for this and more details can be found later in the newsletter. Remember, places are limited, so don’t leave it too late to book, or you may be disappointed.

A new feature that has recently appeared on the web site is the “Advertorial Feature”. This comprises of a Box or Banner Advert, which links to a promotional editorial feature. The first of these to appear are featured below in this newsletter. The Advertorial Feature was born out of requests from companies who, because of our strict listing criteria, are restricted from listing, but did have worthwhile, industry related content for the web site.

Advertorial 2:

Nuplex Specialty Products wishes to dispose of a complete Powder Blending Plant from its factory in Seven Hills, NSW.

The plant is a fully functioning Powders Blending and Packing System, capable of 10,000 tonnes pa operating over two 9-hour shifts, 5 days per week.

Complete flow diagrams are available from Nuplex, but briefly, the plant consists of a day bin section, which allows semi automatic product batching via a lean phase pneumatic conveying system, to batch hoppers and a 1.5 tonne capacity Forberg Mixer.

From the mixer, product is transported on a flat inclined belt conveyor to a bucket elevator, which feeds a batch weigh filling system. The filling system is designed to fill 5 x 1 kg tubs in one operation. The tubs are capped in an automatic capper and cap checker.
