Accuweigh/Budpak’s Sydney branch recently commissioned a bagging system for Skippens Landscape and Building Supplies in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The bagging system is being used for bagging sands, soils and garden mixes into 25kg bags using a net weight bagger.
Net weight bagging systems are ideal for manual bagging lines as the product for the next bag is being weighed while the operator is removing the previously filled bag and fitting the next bag to be filled. The bagging system pre-weighs the product in an overhead weigh hopper before it is dropped into the waiting bag below.
On gross weight bagging systems, the next filling sequence can’t be initiated until the previous filled bag is removed and an empty bag fitted by the operator, so by default, gross weight bagging systems produce fewer bags per hour than net weight bagging systems for manually operated bagging lines.
Components of the installed bagging system include:
- Load cell based weigh hopper
- Ranger 5100 intelligent setpoint controller
- infeed conveyor
- chain driven supply hopper
- finishing conveyor
This net weight bagging system was a very cost effective solution to the client’s need for greatly increased production output with high accuracy. The client was also supplied an Accuweigh AW series check scale as per Weights & Measures regulations to ensure the bags conformed to required weight tolerances.
Skippens Landscape & Building Supplies was founded about 85 years ago, by Roy Skippen and the current management continues to pride itself with a level of service unequalled by their competitors, quality products and competitive prices. Skippens are proud to be the longest established supplier in the Eastern suburbs, and most probably for the entire greater metropolitan area for over eighty years.
Accuweigh/Budpak is Australia’s largest weigh-packaging company with branches in all mainland states providing complete after sales service and support on bagging systems, robot palletisers and stretch wrappers.
