The first bauma trade fair in Africa is scheduled to be held at the Gallagher Convention Center in Johannesburg, South Africa, from September 18 to 21. This international fair focuses on construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment. The Beumer Group will be presenting its extensive capabilities in conveying, loading, palletizing and packaging technology. Africa is seen as a market with enormous growth potential, and wants to be near its customers there.
The Beckum-based Beumer Group will be presenting its innovative solutions for handling bulk materials at Stand 150 in Hall H5. Beumer’s product range includes curved belt conveyors, among which are troughed belt conveyors and pipe conveyors, used for transporting various types of bulk goods over long distances and often impassable terrain. Beumer belt apron conveyors convey hot materials such as cement clinker safely and economically. They are based on the highly reliable belt technology used in bucket elevators. Another product at the Beumer stand will be heavy-duty bucket elevators, which can transport coarse and highly abrasive materials with pieces of up to 120 millimeters in size.
Beumer also manufactures loading heads for fast and dust-free loading of bulk materials into silo vehicles. Their double-walled design separates the dust-removal system from the material inlet. The heads can be moved laterally to compensate for minor errors in the position of the vehicle. When large volumes of material are handled, such as in the cement industry, stationary loading heads are often inadequate because they have to move from one filling spout to the next on the vehicle. In response, Beumer has developed mobile loading units that can be adapted to the length of the vehicle. It also offers various telescopic systems for loading open vehicles without generating dust.
The Beumer product range also includes the fully automatic autopac 3000 loading and palletizing machine, which loads bags filled with bulk materials onto trucks, rail cars or ships. The machine loads and stacks bagged goods in one operation without using pallets. This Beumer system is especially efficient with bags because it requires fewer workers. This is important in newly industrialized countries, where transshipment of bagged goods is increasing and labour costs are on the rise.
In the area of palletizing technology, Beumer will be showing its paletpac range. These layer palletizers handle bags filled with bulk materials. The Beumer paletpac 5000 divides up the bag flow, permitting a persuasively high throughput at low processing speeds while making it particularly suitable for palletizing building materials such as cement or mortar. The geometrical accuracy and stability of the palletized stacks enable them to be stored without any problems, thus ensuring reliable integration into downstream packaging systems. Beumer will also be presenting its versatile and high-capacity stretch hood packaging system, which secures loads on pallets by stretching a snug-fitting hood over the palletized goods while minimizing film consumption. This protects them from moisture, dirt, UV radiation and other environmental influences. Goods stored outdoors stay clean and dry.
Africa is regarded as a major growth market for the building materials and mining industries. The Sub-Saharan countries in particular are rich in raw materials like diamonds, gold and chromium. In response to favourable economic forecasts, many countries are taking major steps to expand their infrastructure. In South Africa alone, investments totalling some 320 billion euros are planned. By showing the flag at bauma Africa, the Beumer Group is demonstrating its commitment to economic growth in Africa and assuring its customers that it will be a reliable local partner.
