As part of Adelaide Brighton’s $60 million expansion to increase the capacity at its Birkenhead cement plant by 750,000 tonnes of cement per year, Luhr Filter was awarded the contract to supply a120,000m3/hr fabric filter for their 120tph horizontal air swept ball mill.
To address concerns raised in an Environmental Protection Authority report about the air quality in the surrounding area, Adelaide Brighton chose the Luhr MWF design which features reverse air bag cleaning and horizontally mounted bags.
The reverse air cleaning system is a robust design which has proven over the last 25 years in similar applications. This design not only uses less energy during cleaning by eliminating the need for compressed air, it also increases the service life of the bags and more importantly significantly reduces the emissions from the baghouse to minimise any impact on nearby residents.
The chosen dust collector also includes Luhr’s latest innovation, its twin bag row cleaning plenum which ensures optimum production throughput by increasing the available bag cleaning capacity of the reverse air cleaning system.
